UPG EXCLUSIVE: Interview with Jennifer Creel. Contemporary Jewelry Designer for the Jet Set.

"I like to mix it up.
Create an authentic New York City style that symbolizes the coming together of uptown and downtown."
-Jennifer Creel

Artists come in many forms and in many trades. One of the most exclusive jewelry designers in Manhattan comes in the form of an elegant Upper East Side doyenne. A classic beauty with rare elegance and a long-held reputation for being the best dressed on the island. For Jennifer Creel, jewelry design was a natural development from hobby to occupation. This love affair burgeoned in her teen years and followed through her careers in entertainment, modeling and fashion. Mentored by a gemologist, her eye for novelty, self-expression and quality flourished.  "Jewelry is tribal," is her mantra.

It goes without saying, the well-heeled social figures of Manhattan are a tribe, and wearing Jennifer's jewels has become a token symbol of belonging. The women that wear her jewelry are of a particular sentiment. They want locally sourced, high quality, handcrafted pieces that are very personal. In addition, they want exclusivity and a tad of trend.
These are also women who are accustomed to standing apart from the factory made and mass produced. Sustainability and endurance are becoming not only the demands for their wardrobes, but their jewelry as well.

While many designers have their sights on substantial growth and entering the retail market, Jennifer prefers an intimate clientele. She's more content with specialty boutiques in her chosen areas, such as the Hamptons, Palm Beach and Paris; presenting at private events. Building relationships with clients and creating meaningful custom pieces is truly her goal. It's also what sets a tribe apart.
